Steps to Make Collage in Lightroom ( Windows & Mac)

If you want to make a photo collage on Lightroom Classic or CC on a large display screen with a better look and easy editing, you need to follow the following simple steps:

Step 1: Import Images

You’ll initiate this process by importing images in Lightroom, but before doing so, you need to decide which images you want to use in a collage. Suppose you want to make a collage of wedding photographs for a specific function. First, you should create a separate folder of all those images on your PC and then import that folder into Lightroom. Regardless of the folder, you can import pictures one by one in the Lightroom library.

Step 2: Edit Images by Batch Editing

In order to make your collage attractive, you must make sure that your photos should be of high quality. To give your images a perfect look, you need to adjust their colors, exposures, brightness, and many more. To make your bulk photo editing workflow very fast, you can take advantage of the special batch processing mode of Lightroom. If you don’t know about batch editing, you must visit our page “How to Batch Edit in Lightroom” for a better understanding. Moreover, you can edit your photos on Lightroom Mod APK before importing because you can unlock all features free of cost that are not available in Lightroom for PC.

Step 3: Navigate to Print Module

After editing images the next step is to navigate to the File tab and select the Print module from its drop-down menu located at the right side of the screen. If you’re facing complications with its selection in the Print module, you can directly jump to it by pressing Ctrl+P and Cmd+P in Windows and Mac, respectively.  Don’t consider that you can use this menu for just the printing process, it can also help in photo collage creation. After getting access to the Print module you’ll observe Template Browser, located at the left side of the screen.

You need to press Template Browser to get an approach to a wide range of pre-existing collage templates. Now, the court is in your hands whether you want to make a custom template or to choose from existing templates. If you’re a beginner, then I suggest you select from ready-made templates, but we can’t deny that curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning, so the more you choose custom templates, the more you’ll learn.

Step 4: Settings of Template Layout

If you’ve selected a custom template then you need to do a certain setting in its layout. For this purpose, you ought to follow the following steps:

  1. As you’ve selected a custom template, you’ll choose “Custom Package” from Layout Style.
  2. After that you’ll get the option of image setting. Actually, it’s the setting of each image that you’ll add within collage. Check the “Photo Border” option if you desire to create a little white space around each image. Then adjust the size of the border through a slider that must be between 2-4pt.
  3. Then you’ll proceed to Rulers, Grid & Guides, where you need to choose Inches for Ruler Units and Cells for Grid snap. By doing this you’ll be able to rightly adjust the edges of photos within each cell of collage.
  4. After that, check all options below “Show Guides,” including Rulers, Page Bleed, Page Grid, Image Cells, and Dimensions.

Step 5: Arrangement of Cells

Now go to the cell panel, where you’ll find something customizable; click on different dimensions, and cells will appear in the workspace, where you can further arrange them by drag and drop option. You’ll arrange the cells according to the dimensions of the images and their size. In this way, you can create your desired template for making a collage of different photos. If you want to save this custom template for later use, click the + sign at the top of Template Browser, give it a name, and create.

Step 6: Add Images Within Collage

After adjusting the dimension of each cell in the collage template, the next step is to add images within cells according to their size and dimension. You just need to click on the image available in the filmstrip panel at the bottom of Lightroom and drag it toward the cell where you want to adjust. Mostly, landscape images give a better look in large cells, while portrait images look nice in small cells, so keep this suggestion in mind while adding images within the collage template.

Step 7: Add Watermark

To give your creation a unique identity, you can add a specific watermark to your collage. For this purpose, you need to go to the Identity Plate within page settings and write any text that you want to use as a watermark. This text may be the name of your company, the name of a special day, and many more. If you want to get detailed knowledge about different types of watermarks and other methods used to add watermarks on photos and videos in Lightroom. In that case, you must visit “How to Add Watermark in Lightroom Classic & CC.”

Step 9: Save & Export Collage

This is the last step to clear your confusion regarding how to make collage in Lightroom. When all is done, you need to export the custom template along with distinctive photos. To perform this action, hit the “Print to File” button located at the bottom right-hand corner. The file will be downloaded on your device in JPEG format, which you can share on different social media platforms or can get a hard copy of it.

Moreover, if you want to save this newly created photo collage template in Lightroom for later use, you need to go back, make some changes, and press “Create Saved Print.” A new window will appear where you’ll give the name of the template and will select the Lightroom Collection where you want to save it.
